Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Higher Education Opportunity Act, Louisburg College prepares an annual security report which is available to all current and prospective employees and students. Position: Assistant Football Coach  |  Full-Time position
Department: Athletics
Reports To: Head Football Coach, Quinderra Spellman

Summary

Louisburg College is a private, residential, two-year with enrollment ranging from 400-500 students.

The Assistant Football Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in carrying out all activities necessary to accomplish the objectives of this sport within the guidelines of the NJCAA, Region X and Louisburg College. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach and provide instruction to football student athletes on the fundamentals, details and strategy of football as assigned by the head coach.

  • Assist the head coach in developing game strategies.

  • Assist in monitoring student athletes academic progress.

  • Counsel student athletes in sport participation, personal developments and academics.

  • Work with head coach to identify and recruit potential Football Student Athletes.

  • Work with admissions to enroll student athletes. 

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.

  • Ability to travel and recruit student athletes. 

  • Ability to learn and comply with all policies and regulations of Louisburg College and The NJCAA.

  • Ability to motivate student athletes to become successful.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Previous coaching/playing experience at the collegiate level are preferred. 

  • Valid driver's license.

  • A proven record of integrity, high principles and demonstrated skill in developing and motivating student athletes academically and athletically.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Auxiliary Duties: Assistant Community Hall Director (ACHD)

The Assistant Community Hall Directory reports to the Community Hall Director and has on-call assignments as well as working as part of the Student Life team to enhance Student Development, complete required Residence Hall Administration, and fulfill other duties as assigned. This position is a part-time position requiring no more than 15 hours per week.

  • Mentor students and assist with academic and personal issues.

  • Serve as a liaison between the Office of Student Life and faculty to help improve student retention, class attendance, and academic performance. 

  • Provide crisis intervention as directed and appropriate.

  • Establish and encourage an environment that supports an appreciation for diversity.

  • Encourage and ensure adherence to College and housing policy by:

    • Educating students about policies and regulations and behavioral expectations.

    • Assigning and enforcing appropriate sanctions for violations.

    • Assisting students in establishing appropriate community standards.

  • Respond to roommate conflicts, personal crises, and provide mediation where appropriate under the guidance of the Community Hall Director Staff.

  • Residence Hall Administration:

    • Working with the Community Hall Director to ensure accurate occupancy records and updated student rosters.

    • Ensure room changes are conducted pursuant to established guidelines.

    • Maintain awareness of the safety features of all residence halls.

    • Maintain awareness and understanding of emergency protocols, to include conducting fire drills.

    • Work cooperatively with housekeeping and facilities personnel to ensure halls are maintained in a good and safe working order.

    • Report and follow-up on cleaning, repairs, damage, vandalism, and areas for improvement.

  • Assist in the coordination of processes for hall closing, resident check-in/out, and health & safety inspections. 

  • Serve in an on-call rotation with other ACHDs and CHDs and proactively visit halls and respond to situations as they arise. 

  • Assist coordinate with residence life facility management for residence halls including conducting room checks, reporting and following up on housekeeping issues/concerns, and maintenance issues. 

  • The Assistant Community Hall Director will be responsible for additional assignments in support of divisional efforts in alignment with the mission of the student life program. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree.

  • Previous coaching/playing experiences at the collegiate level are preferred.

  • A proven record of integrity, high principles and demonstrated skill in academically and athleticall developing and motivating student athletes.

Position: Campus Safety Officer  |  Night Shift, Part-Time position
Department: Campus Safety, Division of Student Life
Reports To: Director of Campus Safety

Summary

Louisburg College is a private, residential, two-year with enrollment ranging from 400-500 students.

To ensure the protection of life and property and the enforcement of statuses and College regulations. Campus Safety Officers conduct patrol on foot and vehicle throughout the entire campus or an assigned area of offices, buildings, and grounds including parking areas. Campus Safety Officers make required reports by radio, telephone, or otherwise. Officers are expected to be able to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs as part of the daily patrol responsibility. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor security access control system, security cameras, fire alarm notification panels, and other notification systems. 

  • Takes action as required to prevent all criminal acts and violations of College policy, inclusive of and not limited to fire, theft, vandalism, disorder, and/or damage or loss to state property and equipment.

  • Takes needed action as to suspicious persons and conditions, and reports significant actions, or occurrences, and conditions on the grounds and in the buildings. 

  • Directs traffic in and around buildings and in parking areas; regulates and controls pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

  • Enforce violations of the College parking policies through issuance of warnings or citations, inclusive of "booting" of vehicles when deemed necessary by College policy.

  • Works to develop positive relations with the Louisburg College campus community.

  • Develop educational programming to meet the goals and mission of the Office of Campus Safety and Louisburg College.

  • Provides escorts to members of the campus community. 

  • Assist College Officials with room searches.

  • Assist with securing special events (including athletic events).

  • Other duties assigned by the Chief of Campus Safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School graduate with 2 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Skills in building security and lock procedures.

  • Skills in providing protection services.

  • Ability to detect criminal activity and assists Police Officers with investigations.

  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and make logical decisions. 

  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.

  • Knowledge of the Campus Student Conduct Policy and Procedures.

  • Ability to prepare cases and testify in court.

  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

  • Basic knowledge of hazardous materials and Identification Plaques.

  • Ability to successfully complete First Aid, CPR, and Blood Borne Pathogen training. 

  • Should be able to meet requirements of the College's automobile insurance.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including developing clear and concise reports. 

  • Ability to use a computer for report writing and timekeeping.

  • Ability to work during holidays, weekends, day and night shifts and overtime.

  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions. 

  • Ability to stand on foot posts for extended periods of time, run certain distances in emergency situations.

  • Ability to subdue and detain individuals in emergency situations.

  • Must be capable of light work, exerting up to 20lbs of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, climbing, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, talking and hearing.

Position: Business Faculty

Summary:

Business faculty are primarily responsible for teaching Business classes including Intro to Business and Business Communications which is housed in the Humanities Division. Faculty at Louisburg College are responsible for advising, providing service to the College, and completing professional development in relation to their field of study. Faculty perform duties as described in the job description, demonstrate a commitment to the College's mission, promote high ethical standards, and foster an atmosphere of collegiality. In addition, all faculty members teach at least 15 credits per semester, 30 credits per year and maintain the ability to teach undergraduate courses according to SACSCOC. 

This position is on-campus only. Louisburg College does not have any online opportunities at this time.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and uphold the college's mission.

  • Maintain the ability to teach undergraduate courses according to SACSCOC.

  • Teach at least 15 credits per semester, 30 credits per year.

  • Advise students.

  • Prepare course material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. 

  • Support the mission of Louisburg College.

  • Provide active support for all planning, accreditation, and assessment tasks. 

  • Participate in scheduled campus faculty development opportunities and workshops (including the Quality Enhancement Plan). 

  • Support academic governance by serving on College committees and task forces.

  • Remain engaged in the campus community by supporting academic events, athletic events, convocations, faculty meetings, and the College's chapel program. 

  • Faculty may also be required to attend other academic events, at the request of the Vice President for Academic Life.

  • Maintain effective communication with the College via the Vice President of Academic Life. During the academic year and summer, the official form of communication between the College and the faculty is via campus e-mail and so it is important for the faculty to check and respond to their College e-mail frequently.

  • Spend at least 30 hours each week on campus involved in providing effective, relevant instruction and performing other College responsibilities, while spending 10 hours each week on campus providing office hours to students.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academic Life.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business or an appropriate closely related field; Doctorate preferred. Must have earned at least 18 graduate credits in Business.

  • Meet the SACSCOC criteria for teaching undergraduate courses. 

  • Documented effective, relevant teaching is required and work experience in higher education is preferred.

  • Documented experience working successfully within a diverse student body.

  • Technology experience required. Demonstrate proficiency in the following - Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

  • Passion for learning and for seeking creative ways to teach students how to learn.

  • Evidence-based ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Excellent and effective communication, planning, organizational and interpersonal skill.

  • Ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy required.

  • Ability to be sensitive and respond appropriately to the needs and concerns of students. 

  • Foster and maintain a positive atmosphere to ensure all interactions are handled with the highest level of professionalism. 

  • Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
